Lift truck rollers / fork rollers

Buy fork rollers / pallet truck rollers at Rollenshop Nr. 1

For a hand pallet truck to be used optimally, it needs the right tyres. The choice of wheels depends primarily on the area of application and the operating conditions in which it is to be used. To cover all applications, we offer swivel wheels, single fork rollers and tandem fork rollers in different materials.

Various fork rollers

On the market you can get lift trucks of high quality and robustness. But with daily use under hard conditions and high loads, the tyres of the industrial truck wear out. You will notice this, for example, when the pallet truck makes noise when moving, is harder to manoeuvre or requires more force. It is usually sufficient to replace the pallet truck rollers. You can easily do this yourself with common tools.

The right material for your pallet truck rollers

The choice of material for the castors and fork rollers of a hand pallet truck is determined by the price, the type of use, the intensity of use and the surface condition of the floor.

If the floor or environmental conditions on which you use your industrial truck change, it often makes sense to replace the castors for the lift truck. Not every roller is suitable for every floor. In the No. 1 castor shop you can get replacements made of various materials:

Polyurethane (PU)

  • Enables a low noise level
  • Light walking makes pulling heavy loads a little more difficult
  • Suitable for universal use

Polyurethane is a particularly robust and low-wear plastic with a long service life. The rollers are resistant to oils, greases and many acids and alkalis. Lift truck fork rollers made of this material are characterised by their smooth running and low rolling resistance. They are shock absorbing, leave no marks and are very resilient. They are suitable for hard and sensitive floors, for example asphalt, screed, tiles, parquet or PVC, and can be used at temperatures between ‑20 and +80 °C.

Polyamide

Polyamide is unbreakable at higher loads, has a low rolling resistance and a temperature resistance of ‑40° C to + 90° C.

Wheels and castors for electric pallet trucks

Support wheels

When an electric pallet truck passes a bump, the pressure on the support wheel increases as a result of the pressure on the suspension. The torsion bar ensures that the same pressure is exerted on the suspension on the other side of the vehicle. The lift truck remains stable and does not sway.

Drive wheel

By placing the drive wheel on the centre line of the implement, the lift truck will not be subjected to lateral moments when the drive wheel regains its grip after spinning (for example, on wet ground or on a slope). With an off-centre drive wheel, considerable sideways movement can throw the truck off track in these situations.

Fork rollers

You can choose between single and tandem fork rollers. The single fork rollers are excellent for easy manoeuvring and positioning of the electric pallet truck, while the tandem fork rollers are better suited for transporting heavy loads and for use on uneven floors.

Available wheel materials for electric pallet truck

The choice of material for the wheels and fork rollers of an electric pallet truck is also determined by the price, the type of use, the intensity of use and the surface condition of the floor.

Polyurethane

  • Inexpensive alternative, developed for less intensive applications
  • Suitable for universal use

Single fork rollers are preferably used on level floors and allow easy manoeuvring. The wear on the rollers is higher than with tandem fork rollers. The white climbing roller facilitates driving into pallets with floor supports.

Lift truck rollers in the right size

When choosing the right tyres, it is not only the right material that is important so that you can move your loads easily and comfortably. The size of the rollers must also fit. You can find information about which tyres you need on the type plate behind the drawbar of your pallet truck. If this is no longer legible or present, measure your old pallet truck fork rollers to determine the right model. You will need the following measurements:

  • Wheel diameter
  • Wheel width
  • Installation dimension
  • Axle diameter

These four factors are an if-then selection. For example, as soon as you decide on a required roller diameter (which must match the respective lift truck), we automatically highlight the associated optimum or possible other factors. In this way, you can also see whether the roller you have selected has the load capacity you ultimately require.

For many makes we have saved the exact dimensions in our file, so that we can already determine the right castor for you by specifying the lift truck type.

Load capacity

Fork rollers must carry very high loads with an extremely small wheel Ø. Bearings and linings are therefore designed to a particularly high standard.

The necessary load capacity of an individual roller naturally refers to the nominal load capacity of the respective lift truck. Consult the load capacity information on the type plate.

How can I change pallet truck rollers?

Thanks to the high-quality and robust manufacturing, it can take years before a castor needs to be replaced. However, damaged, worn or otherwise impaired rollers for lift trucks must be replaced. In addition, the rollers are part of the annual inspection prescribed by DGUV V 68. A suitable employee must be used for this inspection and replacement.

If you only want to change the rollers on a pallet truck, this is usually no problem and may be implemented by any experienced employee. To do this, you need the appropriate replacement rollers, the rest is usually self-explanatory on the device.

You only have to make sure that the pallet truck is secured when changing rollers and that it must then be thoroughly checked again for its suitability for use. This visual inspection can be carried out by every user and is a daily duty under occupational health and safety law.
